Part7: Vigan-Laoag-Pagudpud Day2 - Revisiting Pagudpud

Pagudpud has a special place in my heart.  This is considered as one of my very first trip, my very first blog in my multiply account way back in 2008.  My blog there is already inactive so I'll just share a quick pagudpud experience 2 years ago which turned out a blessing in disguise.

Pagudpud @ 2008  - Lucky Us!

There was a typhoon that time but because we already booked a round trip ticket in Laoag (Php 600/pax via cebupac), we decided to still go on with the trip despite the weather. There's no tricycle at the airport, only a driver who offered his jeepney to bring us in bus terminal.  We were lucky to ride the last trip of bus in Laoag(9pm) going to Tugegarao.  Five minutes nalang, aalis na ang busLucky us!  Just imagine if we missed it, i don't know where to go, not so prepared during that time.  I told the bus conductor to drop us off at Pagudpud Plaza. I never plan on sleeping in an unfamiliar place, but unfortunately we slept.  Thanks to bus conductor's solid memory, he effortly woke us up saying we're already in Pagudpud. (around 11pm)  Lucky us!  Upon arrival in plaza, it was like a ghostown! Literally! There's no light on almost everywhere, except for the Frank's burgerstand - their version of Burger Machine.  I got some numbers of tricycle numbers but no one replied to me.  The girl, crew of Frank's Burger must have heard our rants then told us "Kuya ko po nagddrive ng tricycle, gusto ninyo text ko?Lucky us!  In just a few minutes the tricycle driver arrived in the vicinity and drove us to Polaris Resort. He woke up the guard from the resort and later i found out that the owner is in Baguio, and no one booked yet at the resort due to typhoon.  They might thought we will not pursue the trip.    The tricycle driver then offered his service for Pagudpud's north and south tour the next day. He told us the normal rate and even said "pwede 'nyo pong tawaran ma'am" (rate can be reduced). Wala pa kong sinasabi may tawad na?!  I was impressed with Ilocanos from Pagudpud since then.  And that's how I met Kuya Arnel!  :)

How To Reach Pagudpud

Same with Vigan and Laoag, Pagudpud can be reached via plane or by bus.  Florida Bus goes straight to Pagudpud.  Meanwhile, Laoag airport is the nearest airport terminal in Pagudpud.  From there you can take a jeep/trike to bring you to Laoag City proper where buses going to Pagudpud  including those buses going to Tugegarao are available (more or less Php 80-100). Drop off at Pagudpud plaza, and from there, you can take a tricycle until you reach a resort of your own.  Travel time from Laoag would be 2 hours, 10-12 hours for a regular bus ride coming from Manila.

Touring Around Pagudpud

Unless you have a private vehicle or rented a van, tricycle is a famous transportation when touring Pagudpud.  Don't expect much on parties and nightlife, and there are very very few pasalubong shops to choose from.

Here's the typical Pagudpud tour to check out especially for first timers.  Each tour can be done halfday, both north and south tour can be done for the whole day.  For non-commuters, spots from south tour can be passed by when coming from Laoag.

PAGUDPUD SOUTH TOUR (Normal Rate: Php 600)
Burgos Lighthouse
Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
Bangui Windmills
Saud Beach

PAGUDPUD NORTH TOUR (Normal Rate: Php 600)
Kabigan Falls
Patapat Viaduct
Paraiso ni Anton
Agua Grande
Bantay Abot Cave
Timangtang Rock
Blue Lagoon Beach

After our Laoag tour, we were on our way to check some destinations at southern part of Pagudpud.

Thank you for reading my post.  Please do not COPY my posts on your sites, and take any of my pictures without my permission. Good vibes! Good karma! :)

Your Ilocos series is very informative! Although I have been to Ilocos I have never really visited much of the places. I would love to go on a trip to Ilocos sometime soon and the info you shared would definitely help.

Tour is cheap ha... Is the 600php good for many people that can accommodate the tricycle? ..Unlike in the other provinces that also uses tricycle.

This business of tricycle tour has recently been featured in News TV 11. Drivers are trained for it and they are trained to give affordable and fair prices so Ilocos gets back to have more tourists and be visitor friendly province.
